A Vision for Better Public
Transport
Lydia travels to the city several
times a week for work and study, and is often frustrated by poor and
unreliable public transport.
That’s why, if elected, Lydia will
campaign for:
- An expanded Doncaster Park and
Ride, so that more residents can catch the bus
- An extension of the No. 48 Tram
all the way up Doncaster Rd to Westfield Shopping Centre
- An extension of the No. 72
Tram down Burke Rd to meet up with the No. 48 Tram on Doncaster Rd
- Increased bus services from
Camberwell, Surrey Hills and Canterbury stations to areas with no train
stations, such as East Kew and North Balwyn.
Lydia believes that all residents
of Boroondara deserve access to excellent quality public transport,
especially with high petrol prices. Lydia also understands that better
public transport means that fewer people will need to drive, reducing
traffic congestion and carbon emissions.
